Dangerous Attitudes

What did I do differently? I paid attention to my "intent" ... whenever I felt like *I* was getting frustrated, I took a break and gave him a little walk around. It's not the horse's fault that *I* was frustrated! That's my own stuff. I encouraged him. I gave him the time *he* needed to settle a bit. That is something *****everyone***** who works around horses needs to be aware of - his/her own intent. Attitude = Intent. If you've got inner stuff going on cause Hubby threw eggs at you in the morning or your wife didn't iron your workshirt for you, leave the hubby/wife and the eggs/iron at home. Don't take them to the horse with you. Or, if you can't leave it at home, acknowledge, TO THE HORSE, outloud, yep - out loud - that you're having a really rough day and could use some understanding from *him*/*her* (the horse). The horse already KNOWS what's going on inside you. That's how these critters are hardwired! They can sense attitudes from miles away. They have 100 feet of gut inside of which every square millimeter is wired to sense the INTENT of what's around them. They take in frequencies and "read" them with their gut. Our thoughts and emotions produce energy and frequencies that are taken in and read by the horse. One can use whatever tools one likes with a horse but its not about the tool -- its about the person. Its not about the HORSE - ever! It's about the human. Horses are horses are horses are horses. And then some.

This goes into the roundpen as well with the Bonder. If one goes in with a macho attitude, the horse is going to mirror it right back at you! Rarely will one find a TRULY aggressive horse. Usually, if the horse seems aggressive its because it is afraid and feels trapped by attitude - the HUMAN attitude. If a farrier goes at a horse's hooves with attitude then the horse is not gonna want to give up its defenses, is it? His hooves are his only defense. Why WOULD that horse give up his hooves to an angry predator? I don't think *I* would easily! If one goes to "catch" a horse with attitude then that horse is not gonna git caught! He'll get a whiff of that attitude and say, "Forget YOU, Buddy.
