Contracting the Craftsman Truck SeriesWith his win in the Power Stroke 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park on Thursday night, Joe Ruttman was awarded a new contract by truck owner Bobby Hamilton. Another big time contract for the Craftsman Truck Series was announced last week. Sears and Roebuck signed a contract extending its title sponsorship of the truck series through the 2005 season with its Craftsman line. The new contract means an increased points fund and larger purses for individual races. Craftsman holds on to its status as the "Official Tool of NASCAR." According to the new contract, Craftsman will launch an advertising campaign in support of NASCAR relations. The company will air commercials during Busch and Winston Cup races in addition to truck races, and will help sponsor pre-season, mid-season, and post-season programming related to the truck series. Craftsman will also support NASCAR radio broadcasts, NASCAR licensed publications, and NASCAR Online as part of its multi-million dollar marketing program. NASCAR will be featured on store signs and Craftsman newspaper inserts. This exposure is sure to further the growth of the truck series. The series, which began in 1995, expects to top the 1,000,000 mark in attendance this year. With this financial boost, popularisty of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is sure to soar in the new millennium.
