McMurray wins Rockingham 200…

An event that was scheduled for Saturday, the Rockingham 200 finally got underway today, with 0 laps complete. A tornado ripped through North Carolina and NASCAR make the choice to run it on Monday. Jamie McMurray, who finished fifth on Sunday, lead 192 of the 195 laps, that was the first time that McMurray led that many laps in his entire career in one race. This was McMurray's third career win. But the weekend started out great for Jamie, he started 7th in Winston Cup, and finished fifth, only the second time he has ever done that in his young Winston Cup career (his other top 5 was the Lowe's Motor Speedway win in #40 Coors Light Dodge in 2002). Then on Monday, he started second, his best career start in the BGN, and he won the race, something until 2002, and he never done either. But this was a true career weekend for McMurray.

Martin bails after postponed date…

I must say, I was truly shock to hear that Roush Racing's Mark Martin didn't serve as the grand marshal for the Rockingham 200. This weekend everyone was calling it 'Martinham' because Mark has won there 11 times (nine in BGN, 2 in Cup). Mark didn't say, "Gentlemen, Start Your Engines" instead the person signing the national anthem had to say it. I must say, I am a Mark Martin fan, but Mark you let your fans down, I know that your only a 'Winston Cup driver' but this was your day to shine.

Teams upset with NASCAR…

After I read an interesting article on Jayski.com, I am also upset with NASCAR, but what else is new, aren't I suppose to be a hard to please writer? NASCAR is calling everyone with a Busch car trying to get him or her to the track for the Busch races. If I remember straight, last year they did the same thing in the Winston Cup Series. I think they must be onto something, THE ECONOMY IS BAD. Finally, NASCAR has admitted the economy is bad and now they are doing everything in the power to keep drivers and teams in the sport so they don't end up like the IRL or CART. I must say NASCAR is going to far calling every team that they know, heck call me and see if I want to drive one of them stock cars, I bet all I have to do is run one lap and then say that the car is so loose I can't drive it and I get 34 points for the heck of helping NASCAR. I see why these teams are upset, would you like to spend 2 hours of crucial time in Inspection so you apply to NASCAR's rules. Stay tuned more comments later in the week.

I wouldn’t be too hard on Mark Martin. He may have had contractual agreements to deal with Monday that he couldn’t get out of, preventing him from staying at Rockingham. ...
