A Serious Prediction of the 2003 Season…

Even though we are 1 full month away from racing again, yes testing is in January, there is still time for the predictions for the 2003 season. Many teams will want to listen up if they want to be the next Busch Series Champions.

I have come up with a list of 10 drivers that I believe will head the standings at the end of the season and you can look at them at my 2003 Title Contenders page. Anyway there are some "other" drivers out there that could hoist the trophy at the end of 2003.

Kasey Khane is a great driver with many talents. Let's see why he could be the series champion. Akins Motorsports has done well before the Christian Elder/Mark Green problem and just a side note, Akins finished 5th with Elton Sawyer the last time the team ran full time. Just think about it. Kasey Kahne, a many time winner in the sprint cars, could win the 2003 Busch Series Title.

David Green will be a threat to everyone. If he can put together what he did in the last five races of 2002 for an entire season you better watch out for the TimberWolf Pontiac. Maybe Brewco better pick that #27 car, cause everyone knows who Jamie McMurray is and maybe that luck will spread to David Green.

The #1 and #21 cars can win the 2003 Team Owners Championship. #1 Yellow Freight Chevy will be run by Jamie McMurray (15 races), Casey Mears (7 races), and the rest spilt between a CTS and ASA driver. The #21 PayDay Chevy will have Kevin Harvick behind the wheel for 15 races while Johnny Sauter finishes out the other part of the 2003 season.

Then there are guys who will be on the outside looking in. Drivers like Brian Vickers, Todd Bodine (could find himself back in #92), Bobby Hamilton (will he come to the Busch Series?) and Tony Raines are all looking for a good 2003.

Vickers, recently signed with Hendrick Motorsports, but if the #5 car is as bad as it was in 2002 Vickers, could get the X and find himself back in the #40 BLV Motorsports Dodge for 2004. Bobby Hamilton has found himself without a ride. Dodge wants him to run a Dodge for 2003 and the #40 BLV Motorsports ride is up for grabs. If Hamilton gets sponsorship and the rite deal BLV could go Winston Cup racing with Hamilton. But if they don’t find a big sponsor they will end up back in the Busch Series with Hamilton. Bobby said that he wont drive in the Busch Series unless the rite deal comes along and BLV Motorsports looks like where Bobby Hamilton is headed.
