Women Drivers

Women Drivers With the news coming out earlier in the week that Team Bristol Motorsports released Deborah Renshaw, this calls me to action. Women drivers SHOULD be aloud in the sport. I for one say that some women can sure beat the heck out of Carl Long and those guys with NO money. Too bad Team Bristol Motorsports didn't see that. Some examples of women drivers having no-name rides have not a good tune to it. We all know that Shawna Robinson, was the first female driver to compete in the Daytona 500. She got moved out of the way, her replacement, Derrick Cope. Now how many years has it been since Cope ever ran in the top 10. I guess like 6 years ago, with the old Bobby Allison Racing team. Cope also shared the ride with, Stacy Compton, Ron Hornaday, and even a possibility of being replaced by Hank Parker Jr. The most famous Busch Series female driver has to be Elton Sawyer's Wife Patty Moise. Patty was the driver of the #14 Ford for a long time until 1997 when she left racing. Although, she never won a race, she always was in the top 20 when she didn't wreck. But since then, women have not been treated like the men in the sport. I know the fact that minorities are now being aloud in but with women getting bad equipment; I have no reason to believe that they should be mad at the car owners. "I won't mind working with women drivers" said BGN all time wins leader Mark Martin. "I don't see why they can't drive," Martin also said. I must agree with Mark with this, most of the time women drivers are hired and are fired due to the fact that they don't have the big money like men do. If no one wants to hire women drivers, then you can kiss goodbye the female support that NASCAR has been wanting for all these years. Most female viewers are Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans, because Shawna Robinson never got sponsorship to run a full season. If NASCAR can land minorities rides, and then they should invest some of that 6 billion dollars they have made with NASCAR.com and they're other things. NASCAR just let women drivers drive real cars, no bad teams. Some team owner will hire them. Remember, during the off-season to check out Tom Sampson's new course NASCAR 101, including the NASCAR Busch Series, it is only $3.95 for the course.
