In a race that was postponed to Sunday due to rain, Scott Wimmer got his second career win in a month. Wimmer, whose #23 Pontiac has gone most of the year without sponsorship, is rumored to move to Winston Cup if a sponsor can be found. Suite101.com's NASCAR Busch Series has learned that Scott Wimmer will return to the #23 Bill Davis Racing.com Pontiac in 2003.
Biffle has a wreck, keeps points lead to 105…
Just when everyone thought Greg Biffle was starting to run away with the points lead all of a sudden he has a wreck at Memphis closing the gap to 105 points from Jason Keller (Un-official of course). Biffle made contact with the #02 Chevy driven by Lowell Bennet. Biffle was unharmed in the wreck. I guess you can say pressure is on Jason Keller this week as the Busch Series heads to Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Burton wants to run BGN full time in 2004…
With silly season so much turning drivers into a mess, Jeff Burton wants to stir 2004 up a little. He said after his win at Lowe's Motor Speedway he would love to run Busch full time in 2004 to get 46 career wins (more than Mark Martin's record of 45). Burton also said that Gain wont return with the #9 Ford in 2003 and now Jack Roush has to find sponsorship. If Jack was to allow Jeff to run full time in 2004 that would mean that they would need to have a backup driver for the team in case there is a rain out in one of the series they would need someone to fill in for the team.
Scott Wimmer: Busch Series or Winston Cup?
As I said before, the Suite101.com NASCAR Busch Series Site has learned that Scott Wimmer will be back in the Busch Series in 2003. I have been in contact with BGNRacing.com and they back up the report that I gave them. It does appear that these are only rumors because of the fact that I have the email from BDR.Com and it states that Scott will drive the car in 2003. No word has been said if they will run any cup races in 2003.
