Dale Earnhardt Jr. wins the Funai 250…

In his third start of the 2002 season, Dale Earnhardt Jr. wins another race. In his first start with his new team (co-owned by Jr. and DEI) and won. Junior picked members from DEI and shop guys to work on the #8 car. Junior got out first every stop that the team made. His car had a DEI engine and it made the field look like he had a cup engine in the car. Everyone felt like they were competing up against a cup driver with a cup crew. The battle was clearly for the second spot. Dale Earnhardt Jr. did a great job with driving the car and was blowing the field away. Finishing behind Jr. was Jammie McMurray, Greg Biffle, Jason Keller and Scott Wimmer.

Braun Racing to add Chad Blount and Steadman Marlin…

Next year Braun Racing, plans to run 2 BGN teams with Chad Blount and Steadman Marlin. Chad Blount is currently 2nd in ARCA points. Steadman Marlin is NASCAR Winston Cup point leader, Sterling Marlin's son. Steadman plans to run 12 races and is unstated how many races Chad Blount will run in 2003.

Junior starts team and pairs up with DEI…

In an effort to help DEI find other drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr. started a brand new BGN team to run different drivers to get them into the program. Junior stated that he would run the team for 15 races. He will run 3 races, DEI teammate Steve Park will run 5 races and an unnamed rookie driver will run 7 races (not Sam Hornish). Junior hasn’t said who will be the sponsor of the team. Some rumors (including the one I have posted) say that Junior will have Nabisco sponsor the car.

Jammie McMurray finishes second, lands Winston Cup ride…

What a weekend for Jammie McMurray. First off Jammie McMurray finishes second in the NASCAR Busch Series and then is told the best news of all. He has a job with Chip Gannasi's Winston Cup team with Havoline as the sponsor. If that isn't a good weekend then what is one?

Rockwell Automation leaves Richard Childress possibly to Hendrick Motorsports…

The #21 car is without sponsor for the 2003 season. Their current sponsor Rockwell Automation is leaving at the end of the 2002 season. The sponsor could be moving the #24 car in the NASCAR Busch Series. Rumors have it that Ron Hornaday will move to the team but they were denied by the team.
