Burton wins a rain shorten Gatorade 200… Greg Biffle finishes fourth and doesn’t add to his points lead… Rain, rain, go away… Gatorade comes in the 11th hour… Woman driver to run Toys R Us car in 2003… Steadman Marlin to run more races in 2003… A special thanks… Burton wins a rain shorten Gatorade 200… Jeff Burton won a rain shorten Gatorade 200. In an effort to clean the track in the beginning of the race NASCAR started the green and yellow rule, which meant that they through the green flag and yellow flag and start counting laps. While under this condition they were running 3/4 speed laps. The pace car ran at 65-mph wow that was fast. Even though the TNT crew was trying to have some fun during the race. There were two red flags for the race. And after 7 1/2 hours of racing, rain and all kinds of things the race ended at 74 laps with Jeff Burton winning, Jason Keller second, Jeff Green third, Greg Biffle fourth and Jack Sprague finished fifth. Greg Biffle finishes fourth and doesn’t add to his points lead… Greg Biffle came away from Darlington with the point lead and with a top 5. After leading the most laps and then finishing 4th Jason Keller didn’t gain any ground. The points lead was 78 going into Darlington, and coming out of Darlington it was 78. Rain, rain, go away… On Friday qualifying was washed out and they had to use owner points meaning that Greg Biffle and Jason Keller would be on the front row. NASCAR decided to run the cars under a green, yellow condition to help the track dry out during the drying process. I am not a big fan of running the cars under caution and counting the laps. Gatorade comes in the 11th hour… As the South Carolina 200 race was without sponsorship, popular sports drink Gatorade came to sponsor the event. It was known as the Gatorade 200. It really should have been called the Gatorade 100. It gave the Darlington racetrack some money to pay for all of those jet dryers that they used during the weekend. Woman driver to run Toys R Us car in 2003… Deborah Renshaw, who has been the topic of discussion in the ARCA and local levels of the NASCAR division will drive the #54 Toys R Us Chevy next year while current driver Kevin Grubb will run Winston Cup next year. No word has been said if Kevin Grubb will run any BGN races in 2003.
