Money problem forces #23 BDR to close doors for good...

In this week's edition of NASCAR Winston Cup Scene, the paper reports that Bill Davis WILL shut down his #23 BGN deal for good. This move comes after the word that they have no other sponsor besides Siemens, who is sponsoring the #23, car for 17 races. Scott is currently in the 8th spot in points. The team will follow the BACE Motorsports #74 team to Winston Cup for 7 races. The #23 team ran all of last year on sponsorship from Jani-King, but lost that sponsor to Matt Kenseth and then to Kerry Earnhardt. The team was to run the full schedule with or without sponsorship. This team was the former #93 BGN team that fielded a car for Dave Blaney back in 1998-1999. Although Scott will run 7 NASCAR Winston Cup races, what is up in the air is if the team will come back for 2003 or will they run Cup.

Mile Race...

This weekend the NASCAR Busch Series has off but will run next week. The series just came off one of the best finishes in all of the BGN races this year. On Sunday June 30th the NASCAR Busch Series will go to Milwaukee to run at the Milwaukee Mile. Since the NASCAR Winston Cup Series has off that weekend there could be some Cup drivers making the trip up to Milwaukee. Last year Matt Kenseth made the trip up there and ran in the race. Matt most likely won't run this year due to sponsorship, but I am sure many drivers will show up for the race. Tune into FX at 1:30 p.m. to see the race and make sure that you are aware that it's a one-hour difference between the Eastern Coast and Milwaukee.

Sponsorship needed for many of the BGN teams...

Just to keep to one topic the BGN needs sponsorship just as bad as the NASCAR Winston Cup series does. The #33 team is running the full season schedule and is running only 18 races with sponsorship the other races are run out of there own pockets. The budgets for many teams are very high and with no sponsorship can be hard to run a full season without missing a single race. Some teams try to run as many races as they have sponsorship. The #47 IMI Chevy driven by Shane Hmiel found out that Thomas Pacconi Classic wasn't going to sponsor the team full time this year. Then the team used Mikes Hard Ice Tea as the sponsor. With the sponsorship world coming back maybe teams will have a better shot at some cash in the near future.
