Q: How has your team been affected by the crew chief changes, i.e. Darrell Terry being let go earlier this year?

A: As with any change it takes time to adjust to new people and develop a line of communication with them. John Monsam has stepped in and done a great job for us; we have run well nearly every week. (Note: John Monsam came over to the Innovative Motorsports team on February 23, after resigning from the #50 Midwest Transit car, driven by Ricky Craven. He worked under both Terry and Mike Greci initially, doing setups and shock development.)

Q: What are your thoughts on Hermie Sadler being offered a second chance at the #30 car?

A: Hermie is a good race car driver and with a second chance I think (he) will do well for Innovative Motorsports. I hope he does well along with the other drivers of the #30 car for the rest of the year.

Q: Does having the new Gulfstream motorhome make it easier for you to concentrate on racing, since your wife and baby son can be with you at the track?

A: Having the motor home is awesome. Longview RV and Gulfstream have given me the opportunity to spend so much more time with Max and Katie. With the way Max seems to change and grow every day, I would hate to miss a day with the little guy. He is really developing his own little character and it's so exciting to watch each day.

Q: What do you think about the current trend of open wheel drivers trying to come over to stock car racing, and starting out in the big two, like the drivers (now driver singular!) for Cal Wells' team?

A: I came from open wheels, and believe that a BGN opportunity is great for anyone that gets it regardless where they come from. It takes both driver and team to give success a chance. Good drivers can adapt to nearly any kind of cars.

Q: What made you decide to build a car at age 20 and go racing?

A: I grew up around dirt car racing and just decided I wanted to race myself. We took a stab at it with very little money and it worked. Before I raced I spent time working in a speed shop and that really helped me when I started with my own cars.

Q: Do you ever have time to visit your old haunts and see a few races and old friends, like the Featherlite Modified Series?
