Back in the Saddle
The bad boys are at it again, and the great American race.
They're Back in the Saddle......... It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that Todd Bodine has a reputation of rough driving in NASCAR circles. After all, he didn't finish last season under probation for nothing, there had to be something behind it. I'll have to stop short here and acknowledge that the Bodines have fans just like all drivers do, and I don't intend to purposefully ruffle feathers here, but I have to call a spade a spade. Todd was indeed in deep do-do last season for rough driving, but he wasn't the only one, there were others as well, and some of them have already started in again this season. A late race mishap during Saturday's Koolerz 300 Busch Series race has gotten Bodine back in ill favor with NASCAR officials in the "Big Red Trailer." He was called in after the conclusion of the event for running into the back of rookie Jimmy Vasser during the closing laps of the race. Vasser spun out and collected up a bunch of cars creating a caution as Dale Earnhardt Jr. was about to take the white flag. In Bodine's defense, he claims that Vasser checked up and that he didn't run into him intentionally. That very well may have been the case. Vasser was involved in a wreck earlier in the event when he connected with Randy LaJoie causing a wreck that spun Michael Waltrip into the inside wall near pit road, taking him out of the race. What about Scott Riggs in the No. 10 Nestles car? He ran into the back of Jeff Green, spinning him into the infield wall hard enough to take Joe Nemechek's No. 87 Cellular One Chevrolet out of the Busch race. They didn't call Riggs to the trailer for the mishap, and he really smashed the back of the No. 87. Nemechek had the Busch pole but got sick and had Jeff Green subbing for him. With Riggs, last season's Raybestos Rookie of the Year, NASCAR must have decided that it was just one of those racing things. Let's not forget the continuing antics of the young gun hot head Kurt Bush. He pulled a good one during the second 125 qualifying race when he cut into Kevin Harvick's car and spun into his pit hitting his jack man. Of course, Bush was called to the "Big Red Trailer" for that one, as well he should have.
