It's About Time!

Get ready for the Bud Shootout and more 2003 predictions.

The Shootout Nears...........

It's about time! This coming Saturday night, February 8th, at 8 PM, tune in to the FOX network for The Bud Shootout action from Daytona. It will be good to hear ol' D. W. say " boogity boogity boogity" again!

The 2002 season Bud pole winners are eligible for the event, along with former Winston Cup champion and former Busch Clash/Bud Shootout winners. See a list of the race participants   here .

There are some of the changes to look for with drivers and teams. Ricky Rudd will be driving the Wood Brothers Racing's No. 21 Motocraft Ford, instead of the Robert Yates racings No. 28 Havoline Ford. and Todd Bodine will be driving the No. 54 BelCar racing's Army National Guard Ford instead of the No. 26 Discover Card Ford for Travis Carter racing.

Of the former winners, 1989 and '90 winner Ken Schrader is now driving the No. 49 BAM Motorsports Dodge, and I haven't heard what 1992 winner Geoff Bodine will be driving. It's possible that Brother Bret may provide him with a ride in his No. 11 Hooters Ford.

Other than the above mentioned four drivers, the other fifteen drivers who have qualified for the event will be in the same rides that they were in last season, so you won't have any trouble keeping track of who is who.

Sophomore driver and 2002 Raybestos Rookie of the Year winner Ryan Newman will be driving for the same No. 12 Penske Racing team, but will be in a Dodge instead of a Ford. Winston Cup Champion Tony Stewart will be driving the No. 20 Home Depot Chevrolet instead of the Pontiac Grand Prix that he has driven since his emergence in Winston Cup as the 1999 Raybestos Rookie of the Year winner.

More Prophesizing ............

Yep! They're still at it! This time I was amused by the prophets at Stock Car Racing magazine. They have a section in their March 2003 issue entitled "Driver Rankings, Our picks for who should finish on top." The key word in that title has to be "should." Here are their picks:
