Earnhardt's birthday clouded by revelation, Winston Cup's future, and the NAPA 500 from Fontana, Calif.
Happy Birthday Dale!
Today, April 29, is Dale Earnhard's birthday. Had the stock car racing legend lived, he would have turned 50. Sadly enough, the mystery surrounding his tragic accident has deepened.
It is hard to celebrate the life of such a great racing legend when one's mind is consumed with all of the unanswered questions that remain. Most of us have been really disgusted with the Orlando Sentinel for their battle to gain access to Dale's autopsy photos. I can not say that I will truly believe what they print in their paper. But, I have to remember that they are subject to being prosecuted for libel if they print quoted untruths.
In a story published today, the Sentinel claims that one of the first rescue persons who reached Dale's wrecked racecar claims that the lap belt was not broken, but was intact, and that he had a hard time getting it unfastened. He also is reported to have claimed that he was told to keep his mouth shut about what he found at the accident scene, and that he has not been questioned by NASCAR officials, or anyone else. It is apparent within the story that his conscience got the best of him and he decided to come forward with what really happened.
IF this story is true, then something really stinks to high heaven in NASCARville! The sanctioning body has been, and is, covering something up regarding Dale Earnhardt's death. As much as I hate to say this, or see it happen, I think maybe it's time for a much higher power to take control of this investigation, and get to the bottom of it. Let the axe fall where it may ...
In the event that any of you think NASCAR has seriously erred in their so-called investigation, and are covering up the truth. You may want to write and ask that an official investigation into Dale Earnhardt's death be initiated. Here are the addresses of Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Florida Attorney General Bob Butterworth.

NASCAR's top series may be getting a new name. The sanctioning body changed the name of their top series thirty years ago, and the way things are looking, they may have to do it again. If I am not mistaken, it used to be called the Grand National Sportsman Division. If it has to be changed again, what it will be changed to this time is anybodies guess.
