Spencer mouths off again, Talladega 500 and Fox's TV disappointment.

Spencer Spouts Off......... Again

I was not able to watch the Talladega Busch race. Fox TV thought that the Yankee's game was much more important. I did not watch the Yankee's game, but I did listen to the Busch race on MRN radio. Actually, MRN does a great job with the races. Try watching a Cup race on the TV with the volume turned down, and listen to coverage on the radio.

I was amused this morning when I read the story about Jimmy Spencer's tirade against Mike McLaughlin for dirty driving. McLaughlin said that it was like the pot calling the kettle black, and I have to agree with him. We have not heard much from Spencer since his tirade against Dale Earnhardt last winter, publicly calling Dale every dirty name he could think of.

I seems that McLaughlin won the race by keeping low on the track protecting his position from an inside pass by Spencer. Spencer attempted an outside pass but was afraid of getting blocked into the wall. Then he drive down onto the grass to get around McLaughlin on the inside, but was not successful. Spencer did not have any steady drafting help because he was moving around too much, but McLaughlin had Jeff Green and Todd Bodine on his tail to help push him to victory in the un-sponsored Joe Gibbs Pontiac.

A lot of folks are unhappy about the Cup driver's dominance of the Busch races, and now we have a Cup driver complaining that a Busch driver would not move over and let him win the Busch race. Sour grapes! Those two words describe Jimmy Spencer perfectly. Although, I can think of some other words that would be much more appropriate, but I will not use them here. There is a link to the story at the bottom of the page.

As managing editor of Motorsports here at Suite101.com, I am seeking an editor who is capable of covering the Busch Series on a weekly basis. We have a Busch Series Editor, but I feel that there is room for another. If any of you are interested in applying for this position, you will find a link below to my open topics page. Please follow the instructions on the page to submit your application.
