Rookie of the year standings, and Fox TV's programming woes for the fans.





2001 Rookie Standings..........

Seeing that this is an "off" weekend for the Cup teams, I figured that it would be a good time to reflect on the Rookie of the Year standings.

Casey Atwood

Casey Atwood drives the No. 19 Dodge for Evernham Motorsports. He has qualified for seven out of eight races, failing to qualify at Atlanta. He is fourth in the standings with 67 points. His starting average is 19th, and his finishing average is 24th.
  • Daytona -- Start 21 -- Finish 20 -- Points = 10
  • Rockingham -- Start 23 -- Finish 18 -- Points = 10
  • Las Vegas -- Start 18 -- Finish 24 -- Points = 8
  • Atlanta -- DNQ
  • Darlington -- Start 32 -- Finish 26 -- Points = 10
  • Bristol -- Start 16 -- Finish 20 -- Points = 11
  • Texas -- Start 10 -- Finish 36 -- Points = 7
  • Martinsville -- Start 14 -- Finish 26 -- Points = 10

Kurt Busch

Kurt Busch drives the No. 97 Ford for Roush Racing. He has qualified for eight out of eight races. He is second in the standings with 76 points. His average start and finish is 25th
  • Daytona -- Start 26 -- Finish 41 -- Points = 7
  • Rockingham -- Start 9 -- Finish 36 -- Points = 7
  • Las Vegas -- Start 9 -- Finish 11 -- Points = 9
  • Atlanta -- Start 36 -- Finish 10 -- Points = 11
  • Darlington -- Start 27 -- Finish 30 -- Points = 9
  • Bristol -- Start 39 -- Finish 42 -- Points = 7
  • Texas -- Start 16 -- Finish 4 -- Points = 18
  • Martinsville -- Start 41 -- Finish 33 -- Points = 8

Kevin Harvick

Kevin Harvick drives the No. 29 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing. He has qualified for seven out of eight races, because was not racing in the Cup series at Daytona. He is presently first in points with 87. His average start is 16th and his average finish is 14th. Up to this point, Kevin is the only rookie to have scored a victory.
  • Rockingham -- Start 36 -- Finish 14 -- Points = 11
  • Las Vegas -- Start 20 -- Finish 8 -- Points = 14
  • Atlanta -- Start 5 -- Finish 1 -- Points = 21
