Teresa Earnhardt Pleads for Help.............

I assume that most of you have heard the news of the Orlando Sentinel's quest to obtain the photos of Dale Earnhardt's autopsy. Apparently the Volusia County medical examiner's office released a photo of the inside of Dale's racecar shortly after his tragic death. Teresa then went to court in Florida and obtained a temporary restraining order to stop the release of any more photos.

The Orlando Sentinel is challenging this restraining order, claiming that they want to analyze the photos in order to determine the actual cause of Dale's death. The Earnhardt family fears that if the photos are released, they will end up being published in print, and also on the Internet. I feel that Teresa is right. It is not up to the Orlando Sentinel to determine the cause of Dale's death. The only reason that they would want the photos, is to be the first to publish them.

Teresa asked in her plea that fans contact the speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, the president of the Florida Senate, and Governor Jeb Bush. She urged fans to ask these people to protect the privacy of citizens by preventing the publication of autopsy photos. She also encouraged race fans to let the Orlando Sentinel know how they feel about the situation.

I sincerely hope that most of you will take the time to contact these people and let them know how outraged the NASCAR community is with the Orlando Sentinel's quest to obtain Dale's autopsy photos. The Earnhardt family needs our support. It is the least we can do, considering all that Dale has done to promote the sport that we all love so much.
