Persephone's mother, Demeter, is also revered as the goddess of corn. And Persephone herself is like the seed corn, which rises and falls then rises again in the great cycle of life and renewal. The cycles of nature were highly important to the ancients of all cultures just as they are to us today. Even though we may celebrate and honour the seasons differently, it is good to remember the myths, the tales, and the beliefs of the past so that we can find our way more clearly into the future. So as you venture outside to feel the renewed warmth and promise of spring, take a moment to honour the rising goddess Persephone.
