1. SUITE: Jeffrey, please tell me a little about your books and what genre they are. Jeffrey: Most of the books I write are mystery related. I've done 3 mystery short story anthologies, a biography of a mystery writer, and my first mystery novel. I just completed a book on how to promote your fiction, and I'm working on my 2nd mystery novel. 2. SUITE: When did you first start writing? First start publishing?(short stories, books, etc) Jeffrey: I actually wrote a poem in 4th grade that won a prize -- so that should give you an idea of how long I've been doing this. I started publishing professionally about age 30, which was just over 10 years ago. 3. SUITE: Why do you write? Jeffrey: I never really thought about it. It's just always been a part of me, like breathing and eating. 4.SUITE: Do you have a day job? Jeffrey: Yes, I work for a computer firm, in the public relations and marketing department. So I get to write all day long. 5.SUITE: Do you have something you wish to accomplish with the things you write? i.e. enjoyment, challenging, fear...what do you want people to take away with them when they read your writing? Do you ever have a message? Jeffrey: I think that every writer has some thoughts of immortality in their writing. The fact that their books will be around long after you've gone back to dust. But in terms of themes in my work, I think that I've seen that alcoholism and the abuse of alcohol seems to turn up a great deal in my writing. Especially in terms of it causing problems for the people in the story. That's a part of my own personal family history that seems to have made an impact on me. 6. SUITE: What time of day do you find you are most creative? Jeffrey: I've always been a morning person 7. SUITE: What sort of things do you do for fun? Jeffrey: I spend time with my family and friends. I'm going to be a black belt in martial arts next month. I find it very relaxing and when I'm concentrating on something physical, I get a lot of ideas for new stories.
