More Mysteries For Children

For the next couple of months I am trying to throw out some great Christmas shopping ideas for those of you with children who love mysteries. We started out with a review of one of my favorite children’s mystery series, Nate the Great. Now I would like to pass along some more books for you to consider, many of these are for 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade readers, some are for older children:

The Boxcar Children, by Gertrude Chandler

Enid Blyton's Famous Five-action/mysteries from England

The Westing Game-by Ellen Raskin The Tatooed Potato and Other Clues by Ellen Raskin

Encyclopedia Brown's Case Files

The Bobbsey Twins

The Wishbone Mysteries

Clue Jr. Mysteries

Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys Notebooks-for younger fans, and the regular Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books for older ones (these seem to be a particular favorite)

Cam Jansen mysteries

Jigsaw Jones(this is the current favorite of my 8 year old daughter)

Shirley Holmes

The Baker Street Mysteries

Scooby-Doo (now available in chapter books as well as those for younger children) This is a personal favorite

Shelby Woo

Doug Mysteries

Trixie Belden

Alfred Hitchcock Presents The Three Investigators

Basil of Baker Street

There are also versions of Sherlock Holmes stories for children And if your reader is older and/or advanced, Agatha Christie is usually a good and safe bet

The Accidental Detectives

Babysitter Club Mysteries

Barbie mysteries (these are chapter books we stumbled across through a book club), such as The Clue in the Haunted Library and The Turquoise Trail Mystery

The New Adventures of Mary Kate & Ashley

Plight of the Children by Sharolett Koenig, Koenisha Publications(young adult) http://www.koenisha.com
