Susan Wittig Albert's China Bayles is the owner of an herb shop in Pecan Springs, Texas. China is an ex-attorney. She has given up the rat race for gardening and herbs. The first book in the series, Thyme of Death, was an Agatha and Anthony award nominee. The latest book in the series is Mistletoe Man. Michael Bond, the creator of Paddington Bear, is also the author of the Monsieur Pamplemousse series for adults. The monsieur is a food inspector in La Douce, France, and is aided by his dog, Pommes Frites. Peter King's Goodwin Harper is a food consultant to Scotland Yard in London, England.
