Holidays Can Be Murder

(Claire Malloy series) by Joan Hess - As her college student clientele drift home for the holidays, and her somewhat self-involved daughter learns the difficulty of holding down a job, bookseller/sometime sleuth Claire Malloy resigns herself to another run-of-the-mill Christmas. As a diversion, she accepts an invitation from an eccentric customer to attend the local Druid winter solstice celebration. The celebration is short-lived, however, when the group's benefactor is found murdered. With a group of dissatisfied Druids under suspicion, and her daughter facing an unwarranted lawsuit, can Claire get the whole mess wrapped up in time for Christmas?
  • Rest You Merry (Peter Shandy series) by Charlotte MacLeod - The long-held Christmas Eve tradition of the Grand Illumination on the campus of Balaclava Agricultural College has turned into a profitable tourist attraction-so when Professor Peter Shandy finds a faculty wife sprawled dead on his living room floor, the authorities are quick to label the incident an unfortunate accident. Professor Shandy isn't so sure. A not-so-accidental poisoning, followed by a case of arson, confirm his doubts and inspire this mild-mannered amateur sleuth to research the matter of a murder most foul-committed in the season of good will.
  • Christmas Stalkings (collection) edited by Charlotte MacLeod - A baker's dozen of Yuletide murder mysteries by Elizabeth Peters, Robert Barnard, Reginald Hill, Dorothy Cannell, Patricia Moyes, Margaret Maron, Evelyn Smith, Mickey Friedman, Eric Wright, John Malcolm, Medora Sale, Bill Crider and Charlotte MacLeod herself.
