But another category of book s contains, in my opinion, some of the best werewolf and vampire stories ever written. The romance genre. Over the coming months I hope to review a few of these books, and for today's article, I have chosen a book by Susan Krinaird.
Susan says of herself:
"I write single title fantasy, futuristic and paranormal romance. My reading background in science fiction and fantasy led to my interest in combining the two, making the romantic relationship the primary theme. I've written contemporary paranormal, futuristic, time travel romance, and historical paranormal. My goal is to do my part to make FF&P romance a solid and permanent part of the romance genre, and to continue to stretch the boundaries as much as I can."
"Prince of Wolves" was a Bantam 1994 release. In this book, heroine Joelle Randall, fleeing from painful events in her past, arrives in the Canadian Rockies determined to find the place where her parents' plane crashed. She runs into one obstacle. No one is willing to guide her into the rugged wilderness.
She is finally directed to Luke Gevaudan. He is reluctant to take on the task, but Joelle manages to persuade him to take the job.
Luke is a loner with strange eyes, superb strength and animal-like agility. Joelle is immediately attracted to this strange, handsome man, but she senses in him a leashed power, a savage background that frightens her.
What Joelle doesn't know is that Luke is the descendant and one of very few survivors of a race of werewolves. He is a living legend that few folks believe exist.
The intensity of their attraction, the passion held in restraint by her fear, play out against the rugged beauty and treacherous wilderness of the Rocky Mountains.
If you enjoy reading about werewolves, you won't want to miss this book. It's a keeper.
coming in the future - Reviews of other werewolf books by Susan Krinard including her werewolf trilogy - "Touch of a Wolf," "Once a wolf" and "secret of the Wolf." I also have other books that I plan to review, from both the Romance and Horror genres.
