Playwright David Henry Hwang received several awards for his Broadway debut of “M Butterfly”(he also penned the screenplay by the same name), including a Tony, the Drama Desk award, the Outer Critics award, the John Gassner award and a Pulitzer prize nomination. Hwang is more recently represented on Broadway as co-author of the Elton John/Tim Rice musical, “Aida”. His upcoming productions include the books for two new musicals, “Largo” and Disney’s “Tarzan” as well as a chamber opera, “Hotel of Dreams”. He has worked with the likes of pop star, Prince and was appointed by President Clinton himself to the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities.
