GIVE OF YOURSELF

Sometimes it is fun to just do the Little Drummer Boy thing and give your music in person as your present. A phone call often means more than a physical gift to folks, and getting a bunch of folks around the phone singing to someone can really make their day--perhaps some caroling is in order. Think of getting out with some music pals and have a caroling night, or maybe just a singalong theme holiday party where everyone gets to play an instrument, even if it is just banging a tamborine. Help out with your Christmas Pageant at church or make up some tapes of you singing or playing holiday songs to give out to folks, perhaps with a holiday card instead of a j card inside the case. Send your synth buddies a floppy with a few new patches you've made up on it. Perhaps some homemade guitar picks or an assortment to give to the guitarists on your list would be good stocking stuffers, as would a new pack of their favorite strings. If you are a crafty sort, a gig bag to carry even microphones and cords is always nice to get, as would be a homemade case or strap. Some of us would love even a 1-pack of good CDs or cassettes or perhaps a pack of labels and/or a good labeling program. There are a lot of nice freeware ones of these online--you can always just email folks with an e-card and a hotlink to a good site--now there is something even the poorest of us can afford--it only takes your time. For that matter, just for fun, if you have an MP3.com or other similar site, upload a holiday or Christmas original song and send that link to all your pals--that way all will benefit, and you might have a hit on your hands, even if it is a seasonal one.

But as always, keep writing and have fun!
