You Can Do It!

You Can Do It!

The world at the moment is not a very positive place. Thanks to recent events, many people are taking a very dark look at life, and will tend to be, overall, in a pretty dark mood themselves and take it out on those around them. Unless you want to spend all your time writing really moody, angry music, here are a few steps you might consider taking. There will be a few more next week.

1.BE AROUND "UP" PEOPLE

If you spend your time around positive fellow dreamers, it can't help but rub off. As each of you progresses, you are there for each other to urge each other on. You can talk about your latest achievements and be happy for each other, too, and talk eagerly about good next steps you all could try, and bounce ideas off each other without hearing a bunch of jealous sniping or "oh, really? Prove it!" sorts of statements. This is a far better crowd to find yourself in-achievers, not disbelievers.

2.SMILE. IT'S CONTAGIOUS

No matter how rotten your day, force yourself to find a silver lining to it, and force yourself to smile. Play a favorite funny song. Go do a web search and find some comics or jokes, and read them until you laugh, or find a good comedy on television. Make funny faces at yourself in the mirror until you crack yourself up. Go out into the public and smile at people just for fun, and be happy about how many smile back-you've just helped lighten the world up a little.

3.LISTEN TO POSITIVE MUSIC

Besides funny songs, put some real positive anthems on and play them. If you are in your car and listening to the radio, channel surf if a downer tune comes up until you find a more uplifting tune. Sing along or tap out the drumbeats if you like and try to really feel the message of the lyrics. Just like any other form of rote learning, if you repeat it enough, you will remember it-remember it the next time you need a positive answer to one of life's more perplexing problems. Sounds silly and simplistic, true, but at the very least, you may amuse yourself with hoping that life could be better, and keep your own outlook more positive as a result.

4.PRACTICE POSITIVE MUSIC

Along these same lines, if you get out some of your most positive songs or at least a fave musician's more uplifting tunes and work on them, you are at least forcing yourself to repeat some more light-hearted thoughts and participate in them. Psychology teaches us that it is hard to think and act in contradictory ways, so doing and saying positive things will help you become more positive yourself. Once you really feel moved, you can easily start writing a few stirring anthems of your own, now that you are in the right mood.
