Little Successes Become Big Onesto you, or it won't give you the proper reinforcement to do better in the future. If you know you hate crowds, for example, don't go out to a fancy restaurant-call a favorite takeout place, get a favorite frozen dinner, or make a healthy meal you've been putting off that you really like to eat, so there will be no feeling of guilt or indigestion that may put a bad spin on your accomplishment. This is very basic psychology, and it works to help you to get into a habit of doing the right things, and increasing your chances of a repeat performance. If food isn't your thing, maybe get that nice guitar tuner you've been looking at you needed if it is within your budget, and that will help even more because your music will now sound better, and be a further reward for having done well in the first place. Using your prize gift certificate for that great program you've used but wanted a copy to call your own will also help you save money, which can further reward you every time you aren't spending that extra money on songwriting, so can show a bigger profit at the end of each year. So learn to see your life as a songwriter's journey, not a futile effort. Sometimes just changing the way you see things changes your entire life. Either way, you'll find you have more reasons to keep writing, and keep having fun! (C)2005 Cindy Lee Haddock
