Greatest Hits, Volumes 1 & 2 were released the summer of 1985 - and the collection charted at number six. To date, the album has sold more than four million copies. Greatest Hits 3 was released in 1997 - it too, sold millions worldwide.
Over the years, Billy Joel's music has been featured in movies, television series, and he even did a voice-over for the animated film Oliver and Company. He has performed in the USSR, was inducted into the Song Writer's Hall of Fame in 1992 and has even received an honorary doctorate from Fairfield University in Connecticut. His songwriting ability has never failed to astonish fans and colleagues alike, and to date, he is writing classical music - stating he'd like to veer away from the Pop and Rock scene and concentrate solely on composing.
Billy's twelfth and last album, River of Dreams was released in 1993. Shortly after, he divorced Christie Brinkley. He continues to tour and lecture - and we continue to listen. Winner of five Grammy awards, the Grammy Legend Award and an American Music Award, Billy Joel has made an impact on the music world that world that few will be able to follow.
