Israeli, Classical Guitarist and Composer, Naftali Lahav writes for us again and this time he is sharing his philosophy for teaching guitar. This is the second of a three part series. "I wrote two main assumptions that when putting them together could look confusing: First, I will present my priorities for starting up with classical guitar and then will present my views on respecting the new pupil expectations. Facing Reality: (Assumptions of Existing Information) First, let me put forth a few assumptions about the average pupil, who has made up his mind to study guitar. He may face these areas that need to be defined: The distinction below, will outline Guitar in General and The Field of Traditional Classic Guitar.
Here you may have quick results and join a neighborhood band, even if you only know a few chords. Playing with a crew or a chamber group, needs some music experience and knowledge. I am making this distinction because my conceptions and positions are: a) A beginner should have the chance of having a broad and fundamental guitar playing basic elements!!! b) Having proper basic elements enable many guitar styles playing - that may come ahead.
