A good way to begin a Thanksgiving lesson is to give a little introduction on the history of Thanksgiving. There's a very nice Thanksgiving midi song to greet you when you arrive. While you are at this site, visit the page of Thanksgiving songs too. The next site has a very cute game for pinning the tail on the turkey. There is a pattern that can be printed out to go on the board. I don't know what musical experience this could be tied into, but I'll bet some of you creative music teachers will find a way to use it if you try. There are other holiday projects to be experienced, such as, the Thanksgiving placemats and the paper bag puppets. Many times a timid singer will find it much easier to sing to a puppet than they will to a music teacher. This puppet project could fit nicely in an ear training lesson. This Turkey Site has a lot of fun links. Here are a few of them to get you started:
Kaplan's Turkey on the Web has some fun games and it has been the Cool Turkey Site of the Day and has the awards to prove it. Here are some Christmas Lyrics to add to the ones that you already have. It's nice to have these conveniently typed and ready to go on to a transparency. All you need to do is print them out. It could prove to be a time-saver for those last minute Christmas Sing-Songs. Next week there will be more fun sites that are helpful in giving us those added extras that separate our lessons from ordinary and turn them into extraordinary.
