BOO-tiful Sites!

© Deborah Jeter

'Tis the month for tricks and treats! I hope these sites fall under the "treats" category. October happens to be one of the most activity-fertile months for children's music! Something that I haven't ever spent a great deal of time on in the classroom is the history of Halloween, so that is where I'll begin this article.

This Halloween site is VERY interesting. I never knew there was so much history about Halloween and especially as far-reaching as Asia and Africa. The author of this site thought of everything. There are some Tasty Treat Recipes and some Spooky Links, too! This site is full of treats and well worth your visit!

Here is a wonderful Danse Macabre lesson, ready for use in your classroom. Bernadette has sound files to accompany the lesson and downloadable sheet music too.

Do you like to use stories to compliment your music lessons? This site has a lesson for using Halloween Tales.

Are you looking for some new Halloween books? Take a look at Boo-Books for some great ideas!

In case you haven't seen these cute ditties, how about some traditional Christmas carols with Halloween words? It's all here, at the Halloween carols site.

Other Links of Interest

Want to know more about how the Brits celebrate Halloween? This is a good site to find out just that.

Another wonderful Haunt Site! There are great links too. Check it out!

Just for Fun!

Now! Since you've been so well educated in Halloween, take the Halloween Quiz! But before you do, be sure you have shockwave installed on your computer.

The Halloween Online Haunted House — It takes a while to load but it's worth it!

A Halloween Puzzle — a fun activity for the class even if it's not about music.

Some very interesting Halloween pictures!

The Halloween Home Page — Where all good Halloween movie buffs go.

Have a happy and safe Halloween!
