More Musicians for Kids! Part II

The Washington Post calls him "...the most popular children's singer in the English speaking world. Children's superstar, Raffi, not only offers kids fun music, but also quality music with thoughtful and inspiring lyrics. One of my favorites by Raffi is, "Evergreen, Everblue". He was about to land in an airplane that was flying over some mountains plentiful with evergreens. As he looked out the window, he was inspired to write his thoughts about this experience that he later finished into this song after he arrived at his hotel. Now, that's talent! Songs that seem to flow as natural as breathing. He is a flawless entertainer that's sure to please the kids and parents as well.

Where to purchase Raffi's music: Rounder Records.

And how about some Raffi Christmas Songs?

Norman Foote

Norman Foote has performed at the school where I work. This guy is fantastic with the kids! His songs appealled not only to the kindergarteners but to the fifth graders as well. There is a great song that he performed named, "Grandfather Clock", and several years later, my students that saw him in concert are still asking to sing that song. He's got a new album out, entitled Pictures on the Fridge and there is also some info on his new and first illustrated book, Spider Dan, on the "Fridge" page. Check out Tour de Foote to see if this remarkable children's musician will coming to a city near you soon.

Banana Slug String Band is a "strange, but fun, looking group of guys, that sings about all types of child oriented subjects. I have their album, Dirt Made My Lunch. My favorite song is "Decomposition". Great songs, great fun and well worth the money invested. But don't just take my word for it, see this review about Banana Slug String Band.

Bobby McFerrin is an artist that's talent is beyond words! The way this guy can manipulate his voice is truly amazing. My fifth grade students are just now discovering Bobby and I must say that it has been a complete delight to watch them listen to Mr. McFerrin's renditions. After hearing, "Don't Worry, Be Happy", they are now hooked on Bobby McFerrin. And who can blame them? He's totally delightful!

Don't miss Bobby's sounds page.
