Ready or not, we're going to be BACH at it soon! School will be starting again for some of us next week and for others, within a month. So why not start the school year off with a Bach unit? And you're probably thinking, "Is she nuts?! Everybody knows that when you start school, you have to do something fun, meet the kids where they are mentally. They've been having fun, sleeping late, playing and running around and you think I'm going to start school off on something as serious and legit as BACH? You've got to be kidding me!" Well, don't leave just yet, stick around and investigate this little jewel of a site that I've found! It'll be a perfect introduction to the, "a-hem," more seriously regarded J.S. Bach lessons. Take a peek at the Bach 'n Roll site, but be sure and come back, to find out how this is going to tie together in a nice, neatly packaged lesson. The
Bach homepage by Tim Smith is a truly remarkable resource! However, a good starting point for a lesson on a Bach fugue would be here. Bach's fugue in C minor is taken apart and reassembled in such a fashion that even primaries could understand. And do NOT miss the lesson presented on permutation in the Permutation Primer! It is amazing! It's a multimedia-type presentation that is simple yet captivating. Any music teacher should find this site unbelieveably helpful and enjoyable. Well done, Tim Smith! And just in case you don't get your ample fill of Bach at Tim's site, here is an index of some Bach sites that are sure to keep you going "Bach" for more!
