My Childhood Memories-On the Receiving Side of Music Education

As I mentioned earlier, the music teacher that stayed the longest (8 years) was the man who had inspired this girl from a non-musical family to pursue a dream that seemed improbable to her family. From the time he encouraged me to attend music camp after eighth grade, I knew I wanted to be a band director. Band and music was basically my life in high school, from the stage "jazz" band we formulated, to pep band, and one year of chorus. I rued the day I opted to take shorthand instead of another year of chorus when I was a senior. I thought shorthand would help me survive college better. What a mistake.

This short memory blurb of my years as a music education STUDENT is dedicated to Mr. G. Thanks, Clinton!

Next week, a continuation of Childhood Memories with songs from our youth, and how you can use them today.

To be scheduled soon: A Music Education chat. Stop the the music education chat section to visit with colleagues and discuss everything from assessment to PepsiNotes! Keep checking here and at The Music Education Madness Site for date and time.
