"provide homes that are safe places for young women and their children, where there is opportunity for a fresh look at life. Sometimes a person needs to take a look at life from a different perspective, and that is exactly what Eagle House is all about."As readers know...I have passion about this subject and have written extensively about recovery for three years. Above is a shot of the booth where I have set up a temporary studio. It is very comfortable and in a prime position. I am very grateful to Viva Brisbane. We have been lucky enough to have power and a phone line. This means that I can have the Internet and my digital camera. I have used the Internet to look for images to give me inspiration. I am taking photos so that I can analyse the design. I can also record the process in stages and these pictures will be used to illustrate my new drawing courses. (They are coming to Suite101 soon.) You will see examples of drawing and painting styles develop as the painting evolves. These pictures show the progress of the mural so far. The initial stage consisted of a simple line drawing, which was 'blocked in' with paint in very basic colours. As the blocking in stage developed I moved into a more 'drawing like' stage of creation. Oil pastels were used over the top of the painted areas so that I could explore colour mixing. I am building layers of colour and tone by cross hatching and blending. This is a close up the leaves and you can see that they are starting to come together. The baby in particular is going to be very subtle. When you enrol in my drawing classes, these techniques will be explained. I will show you how to contrast techniques and media. This will allow you to create different kinds of artistic devices. You will be shown ways to mix media. This is a good way to enhance the subtle contrast of light and dark and line effects that can be created.
