Plaster Column
The story is presented in a playful manner. It is life sized and has twisting vines and large leaves which can be trailed all around a child's room. The Vine section is repeatable and is 15" long and 8" wide (3 overlays) Vine top (8" long 3 overlays) and Stenciled Jack (3 overlays and 6"x3") with his "playclothes and bare feet". By re-using and repeating sections it is possible to create an entire mural with just this one adorable design! You can leave the night light on when your aspiring artist goes off to bed or role play to your hearts content in the creative atmosphere of storytime.

I am greatly encouraged by finding out about the stencils Victoria creates. Because mural artists work in communities which of course require all kinds of processes and are complicated by all kinds of group dynamics. I am always looking for ways to make life simple. By writing these articles I have discovered how to make the whole process easier. Particularly when you are working with community groups it is not wise to just presume that everyone can draw. However by providing the group with ready made stencils the problem is solved.

The bear picture is also from Victoria's site and has also been designed by Spring. What a creative family! It is an example of how simple a design can be and yet how effective. Children's Murals

She doesn't claim to have all of the answers but she sure knows a lot of contacts who serve as her research base. One of them is her own mother who is actually her technical advisor in many cases.

There is always research to be done and there is a never ending array of media to trial and experiment with. - "There are actually many different types of media (such as wood putty) that can be used in place of joint compound for unusual applications such as applying raised designs to the outside of "stucco"
