  • initiate activities and interests which will be maintained beyond the formal period of her attachment to the school;
  • foster further interaction between arts practitioners and educators;
  • value the diverse cultures represented in both the broader community and school community by identifying and eliminating barriers which reduce some students' levels of participation and achievement; and
  • provide professional development opportunities for teachers In this way Kez's career has been about the establishment of community and enabling the work and committment of other artists.

    In 1996 Kez married Mike.... This was after going to Indonesia (Bali and Timor), Mexico and the U.S. [to help Mike pack his bags] . She met Mike on the net in February 1996 and married in May 1997 - "the very best event in our lives." Read Our Story

    These are the many faces of Kez as she goes about her daily routine... The Artist

    The time consuming nature of bookbinding means the books are not mass produced. Each is a unique and individual piece. To read notes made during the process of preparing to make a new book! Click on the word INSPIRATION!

    "I have made books from handmade paper, scrap paper, fine cartridge paper and delicate tissue paper, bound with pigskin, emu skin, kangaroo vellum, marbled paper or painted silk sewn with beads. I have made tiny fairy-size books and large art books. I have made books from paperbark, with strong bark covers, bound with palm fronds. In general the books are an average size A5 volume with around 100 pages bound in 5 to 7 sections with hardcovers and a soft spine about 2 centimetres wide. Made with a variety of good quality plain paper using various techniques according to the feel of the final outcome."

    "Parting with a handmade book is a bit like adopting a child out. I like to know where they are going and what the new owner has in mind for them (if they want to tell me!) My books have found homes all over the world, including one I bartered for some wonderful fonts (ask Ethan from Fonthead Design). I like to think people will fill them with their own brand of creativity and be inspired to turn them into a personal work of art. For this reason we are not bulk suppliers of books which means they are not available on demand."
