It is essential for an artist to prioritise time so that she/he is consistently getting tasks completed, deadlines met whilst at the same time maintaining a relaxed and happy lifestyle.
My artistic endeavours demand that I keep several threads of creation working smoothly all at the same time. Each thread of creativity can't operate efficiently unless the other threads are humming along also.
None of these elements can actually be prioritised out of my weekly routine and so this checklist has been honed and fine tuned until it is lean, keen and mean. *Writing about Mural Art. This requires a commitment of time which takes me away from the act of creation itself. It is an integral part of the process and is also enjoyable and rewarding. It engenders enthusiasm, ideas and a momentum for the mural creation exercises. *Our artistic support network requires a huge commitment of time and energy and is the very life blood of the whole creations exercise. Busy Women *Teaching is important too and brings in the bulk of the bread and butter. * Simple necessities of life such as tax (Our BAS system requires frequent, accurate reporting), financial planning and even simple banking requires attention. An accountant can only work with the preparation presented by the artist, so that means there is still work for me to do. * Recovery work although not essential to this recipe is the one aspect of my life which will keep it manageable, keep me emotionally stable and centred. It is the one thing which simply cannot go, and so a portion of my week is focused on volunteer work, recovery work, healing workshops and meetings. * The house and personal life must be maintained for example visiting parents, cooking, washing and generally 'living'. Because I have to keep several things moving forward at once I need to ask myself. What will help me to focus? The answer seems to be...to make the distinction between what is important and what is urgent. "Many things in life are important, from relationships to deadlines, but sometimes we have to determine which ones are more urgent, which can mean either time-driven (a must-meet deadline) or necessary to our continued well-being (a meeting.)"
