Getting used to teaching drawing online has been an immense learning curve for me. Students have been patient and helpful. One very patient student was Fran. She was an Australian student from W.A. She said, "And I find yours most interesting. I shall keep looking for the links and try to follow your pictures. I find I can also post to my site at 101 and will do so from time to time. My next "thinking" is about trying to combine the poems and the pictures in a meaningful way or to write about other's work. This class has fulfilled my need for a disciplined direction for new work and a better understanding of drawing. Thank you so much, more later in the day." Fran Sept 2004

This quote is interesting because it talks about posting Art Work for critique. If Suite101 takes up the challenge to have Blogs connected to articles. It will end up being an Art Student's dream.

Blogging is so easy and versatile. Please have a look at these examples. They are posted to an Australian site. www.WhitePage.com.au You can see from this Blog that I can post pictures and an accompanying script to explain them. The reply function gives others opportunity to critique, ask questions or simply give the thumbs up with emoticons.

It is also great for quick tips and explanations about drawing or the software needed to edit drawings for working online. Changing a Picture Size In Photoshop.

At MIECAT we find it is a great way for students and teachers to connect so that we all know what each other are doing and which direction the members of community are headed. Two Paintings Shortlisted in ArtForce Awards. It can be a bit like a notice board but more detailed with interaction. So I guess you can tell this means that I really like the idea of Blogging and for me it is all systems go. Always I am looking for ways to teach more effectively online!
