Icon In A Temple


Aussieland is a big, big place. And it would want to be because the people here tell tall, tall tales! Usually these kinds of tales revolve around traveling and adventure. Think about it. Crockadile Dundee was no timid stay at home. And Terry Irwin. is rather adventurous to say the least.

Mark seems pretty attached to his outdoorsy traveling lifestyle and tells tales that certainly keep his audiences thrilled and enthralled. I got curious (as I do) so we all started yarnin'

"I can top that!" speaks up Sandra!

"I painted a bus that went right around Australia! Did it up with landscape images and that turned a head or two!"

Click to enlarge "Bit of a mural landscape artist? Hey?" I asked her. I was becoming quizzical by this stage.

"Oh," she said "You know 'Jack Of All The Art Trades' really. For example once a horse stud wanted a lovely scene with their top stallions heads on it - so I whipped that up in a sec."

"Tall tails indeedy," I thought and decided to press further.

"Mostly I have done indoor murals. But when asked I could turn my hand. I designed (but not painted) 2 cars for the Logan City Council's Pet Care Department. I painted another car to look like it was covered in leopard skin! That was slinky." Now we haven't got a picture of that but if you look at this zebra design Sandra sent me you will see that she is pretty good!

"I designed lots of logos and other images that were then enlarged onto trucks. You know the kind of thing - whipped up a horse float with pastoral scene."

Then she softened (for she had been taking Mark and I off a little.) "Of course on my more cosy days I paint my murals indoors.
  • I actually painted the whole of a Baby Room in Disney like characters for a coupla doctors."
  • "I have done a feature wall (2 floors high) in Fantasy Style for antique collector and a mural for vet surgery.
  • I actually did a mural along a shop wall of a huge medieval feast (mostly fruit and veggies) for a Fruit shop!
  • An Egyptian themed wall for collector of Egyptian artifacts....there are more but I can't remember them....?"
"Tell us more," I said as I stirred the embers.
