Complimentary Composition

I chose this particular exotic plant because it is the feature of one of the local flower auction houses. The market place is a large part of the culture of Sherwood. The Heliconia reflects not only a flower that people see regularly but one that often adorns the interior of local houses, businesses and institutions too. I love the tropical plant, so this made it easy for me to paint. I have set out to capture two things.

High Contrast and Movement.
The high contrast has been achieved on the front of the box, and the movement has been worked up from the sides.

The visual cues have been specifically designed to lead the eye toward the front of the box. The first glimpse of the box is usually from the side as the driver drives towards it. By indicating an updraft, one that drifts forwards and upward, the viewers eye has been told (when approaching from either side) that there must be something happening on the front of the box. And so the message is...........
Get Ready To Look!
And as the driver drives past the box
LOOK!

I hope you like the recommended reading. I was looking for books on how to paint flowers, and I found this one on how to paint them on rocks. I immediately bought it!

Quite a while ago I took the course...Stenciling101 it has enabled me to gain valuable information and experience using the technique. With that knowledge I was able to design and implement the butterflies drifting upward on the side of the electricity box. With this course Beyond Stenciling. I have been able to extend the nature of my designs even further. I will be able to show you the results in the very near future. See you next month.
