A signature file is a bit like a TAG that young mural artists leave behind on their spray can art work. Every time a TAG artist paints a mural - they leave a small pic so that everyone knows who painted the mural with out the need to write the artist's name.

This is becuase they show that the kids writing about their artwork online are taking the time to think about their name, the look of their art and how they want everyone to think about the self-expression they are presenting.

Some artists don't leave their name. Mystery is half the fun of the enterprise. They let the artwork contained in the signature file say it all.
