I know people who are sympathetic try to offer all sorts of methods and means to cure MS. They mean well, but, as an MS patient, don't you clench your teeth at their lack of MS education?
I have been told that a cold cloth will relieve the rigidness in my hands and fingers. The cold cloth will also cure your blindness that comes and goes. Other remedies are listed with suggestions on changing my diet, changing to a REAL doctor, not an MS specialist (they always charge too much and don't know more than your regular doctor). I have heard and read well-meaning advice for bowel/bladder incontinence to such sage advice as 'limit your intake of fluids and foods'. Please, please, please, don't be angry. Don't be discouraged. Stop, take a deep breath and enter the world of diplomacy. Calmly thank the person for their advice and then, if you feel like it, give them chapter and verse of why what they suggest doesn't work and your reading of (whatever source) disclaims their advice. It took us decades to make it this far in MS research and maintenance of this unpredictable, debilitating disease. Let's not shut the door on the few that offer advice and encourage them to educate themselves. There are teleconferences on MS that are free and are NOT limited to MS patients. Encourage your friends, acquaintances and family members to join in on the dialogs and conferences that are offered. I am supplying you with links on the Internet that might offer you some assistance in this matter. Here are the links that might provide a source of education for you, family, friends and acquaintences: http://www.rebif.com/events/re200.jsp Go To Page: 1
