Acting-Out Ideation

I too have used and manipulated and acted out in the past, and that I required an inordinate amount of patience and love to grow beyond most of that. I guess true service is an art that takes years to learn, and lots of mistakes to learn from.

What has assisted me greatly in the development of that art are these rules I created for myself:

  • (1) Never try to assist anyone who hasn't asked for assistance.
  • (2) Share only my own experience, strength and hope. Never tell anyone what they need to do, only what I did.
  • (3) Never try to take from someone the pain that they are working so hard to hang on to. They need it or they would let go of it.
  • (4) Offer my truth wherever appropriate, keeping in mind that it is only MY truth and that it may or may not be applicable to the lives of others.
  • (5) It is not my responsibility to heal others, but rather their responsibility to heal themselves.
  • (6) Keep my eyes on myself. What others think about me is none of my business.
  • (7) It is not enough to talk the talk, I must also be willing and able to walk the walk as well.
