Winamp, created by Nullsoft, is a simple program and is one of the more popular MP3 players used. Winamp contains the basic controls such as play, pause, stop, forward song, previous song, select new song with additional controls position slider, balance, volume, equalizer, playlist, shuffle and repeat. With a built in spectrum analyzer and oscilloscope, track info: author, title, bitrate, sample rate, time, etc and can run in unobtrusive windowshade mode maybe a simple program yet a powerful MP3 player.

Winamp supports the following formats: MPEG audio layers 1, 2, and 3 .mp3, .mp2 Digital synthesized music formats .mod, .s3m, .xm, .it Musical instrument digital interface .midi, .mid Digital audio file .wav, .voc Compact disc audio .cda Windows media audio .wma Audiosoft secure MP3 file .as, .asfs

With a drag and drop playlist you add your favourite tracks to one list for continues play. Create and save new playlists or load a previous playlist, edit song information via ID3 tag editor, sort by title and filename or randomise, add or remove a song or a block of songs from the playlist, delete song files or song listings from the playlist and playlist displays current song duration and complete playlist duration for easy dubbing.

To enhance your music Winamp contains a ten band graphic equalizer and built-in pre-amplifier. You can create and save new pre-amplifier and equalizer settings or load previous settings, create and save song-specific pre-amplifier and equalizer settings. You have the option to autoload previously saved song-specific pre-amplifier and equalizer settings on Winamp start-up. Spline curve display of EQ settings and the equalizer can allow user to change Volume and Balance in Windowshade mode.
