But what makes her a star of the 70’s and 80’s were the drama shows of television, Dynasty (1981) and The Colby’s (1985). She appeared in a blockbuster Television movie which all women love, The Thorn Birds (1983, mini-series, which won her an Emmy).

Some truly wonderful movies were the Christmas classic, Christmas in Connecticut (1945) and a thriller Sorry Wrong Number (1948). Black and white they may be but they are still great films.

A legend of her time staring with other legends like Clark Gable in Night Nurse (1931) to Elvis Presley in Roustabout (1964), Barbara Stanwyck saw Hollywood in it hay day of Warner Brothers and giants of the screen.

In 1982, Barbara was awarded an honorary Academy Award for her creative and unique contribution for screen acting.

Barbara died at the age of 84 on January 20, 1990 in Santa Monica, California, of congestive heart failure. With 104 movies to her credit she has become a legend in our time.
