Two great comedies followed: The Missionary (1982) and A Private Function (1984)in which Smith carries a major roles of straight comic.

Still prominent on live stage she has managed to star in landmark new films like Sister Act I (1992) and II (1993), The Secret Garden (1993) and The First Wives Club (1996) with revengeful wives Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton.

Today Maggie is a mainstay in the multi-million dollar films with the wizard Harry Potter, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001) and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002).

Even as a strict yet passionate professor teaching magic she has become a headliner in the famous movie Devine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (2002) with Sandra Bullock.

Repeatedly nominated for best supporting actress and winning an Academy she has never slowed down even at 63. She has begun her latest movie My House in Umbria (2003) in which unlikely people meet after a terrorist attack.

Maggie Smith has numerous landmark films, she’s one of those actresses you see and can’t place the name to the face. As long as Harry Potter sequels continue, Maggie will be there with major roles.
