His long-term marriage to Lola (27 years, divorced 1985) produced 4 children (one died of sudden infant death syndrome). He has two daughters, Shauna (born, 1960) an artist/painter and Amy Hart (born, 1970) who is now an actress. Robert has one son, David James "Jamie" (born, 1962) now a screenwriter.

Redford is a man of cinematic vision that few can rival. With numerous: Golden Globe awards (acting, directing), an Oscar (directing), Theater World Award (1961) and a Directors Guild of America Award (1980) Redford can hardly be matched.

He founded the nonprofit Sundance Institute in Park City, Utah, in 1981, which hosts the very popular Film Festival, Sundance. Through the Sundance Institute independent filmmakers receive the provided much-needed support to carry new ideas to cinema.

He directed a little known movie, The Milagro Beanfield War (1988) which is very good and has continued to direct many more box office hits.

No matter what your taste in movies, Redford has managed to hit the spectrum of entertainment. His latest movie appearances include: The Last Castle (2001), The Spy Game (2001) with the youthful box office sex symbol, Brad Pitt, and The Clearing (2003) yet to be released.

At 65, Robert Redford, will always be known as a superstar of Hollywood.
