Besides western films his tough law enforcement will always be remembered in films like Dirty Harry (1971), Magnum Force (1973), The Gauntlet (1977- director), The Enforcer (1976), Sudden Impact (1983 - Director; Producer) and The Dead Pool (1988) in which Clint made the characters Harry Callahan and Ben Shockley synonymous to “don’t mess with me”. Not always serious and gun toting Clint played in some comedies Every Which Way but Loose (1978)and Any Which Way You Can (1980) as the character Philo Beddoe and his ape companion besting bumbling bikers. Firefox (1982 - Director; Producer) and Heartbreak Ridge (1986 -- Director; Producer) were two military films in the 80’s that were rememberable. With numerous movies in the 80’s and well into the 90’s one must mention the long talked about book made movie romance The Bridges of Madison County (1995). Even with umpteen movies in the making Eastwood found time to be elected mayor of Carmel, California (1986), serving two years. He is the owner of a well-known pub in Carmel, the Hog’s Breath, as well as a rustic resort on the outskirts of Carmel. Eastwood has numerous children but not all by marriage. He has been married only twice. His first wife, Maggie Johnson (1953-1980) having two children, Kyle (1968) and Alison (1972) but while married to Johnson he had a child by Roxanne Tunis (Kimber Eastwood – 1964). His latest movie (at the age of 71) is Space Cowboys (2000 - Director; Producer). Thanks to Spacesurfers for the use of photos to illustrate this article.
