In 1979, Jessica met the great Bob Fosse and starred in All That Jazz (1979) and landed a comedic roll in the film How To Beat The High Cost of Living (1980) and also did a stage production of Angel on my Shoulder (1980).

With co-star, Jack Nicholson, Jessica made a definite comeback in reviews in her performance as a murderous adulteress in the steamy remake of The Postman Always Rings Twice (1981). This movie opened the door to more challenging roles.

In 1982 her two Academy Award nominating movies appeared. Frances a dramatic emotional challenge and the comical Tootsie with Dustan Hoffman.

Jessica has strived for the complex women character roles in the heart warming movies as Country (1984 – actress and producer) where a farmer and his family struggle to maintain their land from bankruptcy and the unforgettable voice of Patsy Cline which she lip synced in the movie Sweet Dreams.

Not bowing to roles with high price tags Jessica has gravitated to meaningful roles that she feels impacts life. She received her fifth Academy nomination in 1990 for the film Music Box.

Her life has been enriched through her long-term relationship with Sam Shepard (writer, producer) that has yielded two additional children in her life, Hanna Jane and Samuel Walker. This Hollywood actress and her family now live quietly in Minnesota.

Her love for film and stage has brought her into a stardom of over twenty films. Her most recent films that have impacted the box office are: Crimes of the Heart (1986), Cape Fear (1991),Blue Sky (1994), Rob Roy (1995), Losing Isaiah (1997) and a revealing movie of family secrets, A Thousand Acres (1997).

Jessica Lange is a woman of her own destiny with no compromise to money or fame. She seeks roles that are only of interest to her. Her love for the stage will never diminish with such roles as A Streetcar Named Desire and where now she is touring with Eugene O'Neill's play Long Days Journey Into the Night (2000-2001). She may have been the beauty of King Kong's desires but she has won the hearts of the movie world.
