If you’re a Stargate fan, then you know this man. This man has come the distance from Disney tennis shoe movies (The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes), 1970), to barefoot (The Barefoot Executive, 1971) to space boot action (Soldiers, 1998) thrillers that make you hold your breath.
He has been comedic, dramatic, and heroic and above all – likable in every character that I have seen him play. Even in Used Cars (1980) he cheated people selling lemons to old ladies, but you couldn’t help but sympathize with him. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on the 17 of March 1951 to the full name of Kurt Vogel Russell. He is well known for his attachment to Goldie Hawn. Their long love relationship has produced a son, Wyatt. They have built a huge hideaway in Muskoka, Canada, a lakefront cottage right across from the comedian Martin Short’s summer place. This dynamic couple has appeared in popular favorite movies Overboard (1987) and Swing Shift (1984). In the movie Captain Ron (1992) Kurt stared with is lakefront neighbor Martin Short, where he wore an eyepatch. This comedy is a different, but can be seen as a similar character, Snake Plissken, the darker side, in Escape from New York (1981) and Escape from LA (1996). With a long-term relationship with director, John Carpenter, they also produced a good comedy Big Trouble In Little China (1986). With over twenty-six movies, Kurt has a career. When asked by Patrick Stoner during an interview about his character Snake Plissken, he replied, “Well, I suppose there's a dark side to all of us. I don't know how much "Snake" there is in me, but I do know he's the only character I ever wanted to return to and explore again.” The sci-fi movie is Stargate (1994) had a depth of universe travel and ancient Egypt all rolled into one, where Kurt’s character was troubled with the loss of his son due to a hand gun accident. He played it very well, giving emotion and yet authority to command troops in tight situations. If you haven’t seen Breakdown (1997), a desperate search and rescue of a missing wife, this one will keep you awake. It is a very good action movie with close calls. The movie Tango and Cash (1989) was partly filmed at the Mansfield Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio. The Reformatory is now closed but it has daily tours during the warm months and they give you details where parts of the scenes were filmed. Another movie that was filmed there was Air Force One, but that’s another story.
